Building Biology Connection‍ ‍

Building Biology Connection was created to help people better understand how their homes, workplaces and indoor environments may be affecting their health, comfort and wellbeing.

The practice brings together solid architectural experience with current knowledge of how modern buildings, materials, technologies and urban environments can influence the quality of the spaces where we live, work and sleep.

James Poon received his Advanced Diploma of Building Biology through the Australian College of Environmental Studies, and is a committee member of the Australasian Society of Building Biologists. James is also a member of the Australian Institute of Architects, the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, and holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Melbourne.

Before establishing Building Biology Connection, James had a 27-year career in architecture. This experience provides valuable construction industry insight when advising on healthier new construction, renovations and indoor environmental improvements, as well as when investigating where an existing building may be contributing to poor indoor conditions.

The buildings we regularly occupy can become so familiar that we may overlook their possible impact on our health and wellbeing. Common indicators of a poor indoor environment may include:

  • poor sleep quality and chronic fatigue

  • persistent cold-like, flu-like or respiratory symptoms

  • allergies, sensitivities or skin rashes

  • headaches, muscle and joint discomfort

  • dizziness, concentration or memory issues

  • chest tightness or irregular heartbeat sensations

  • recurring infections

Building Biology Connection does not diagnose medical conditions. Instead, we assess the indoor environment to help identify possible contributing factors and provide clear, practical recommendations for improvement.

Whether you have been referred by a health professional, suspect your home or workplace may be contributing to health concerns, or are planning a new home or renovation with health in mind, Building Biology Connection can help you take the next step towards a healthier indoor environment.

Located on Sydney’s North Shore, Building Biology Connection provides independent building biology inspections and advice for homes, workplaces and other indoor environments.
